I. List of Police lieutenant duties:
  1. Act as Supervisor for day and/or night shifts, and serve as Supervisor for Communication Center Operations.
  2. Coordinate and provide one-on-one training to staff on a variety of topics, such as safe handling, proper control, and effective use of firearms.
  3. Oversee operation and maintenance of video surveillance, access control, and other specialized security systems and equipment.
  4. Oversee and coordinate the gathering and distribution of local intelligence received from other law enforcement agencies.
  5. Assist management with staff performance evaluations.
  6. Direct Police operation in the absence of higher management.
  7. Serve as coordinator for emergency response teams, or serve on special assignments such as Executive and Dignitary Protections, or provide professional armed escort for staff/valuables outside the facility as assigned by law enforcement management.
  8. Manage change by developing workable implementation plans, communicate change effectively, and building support for initiative.
II. List of Police lieutenant qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in related field and at least one year of work experience in a security-related field, or a combination of a minimum of five years related work experience and/or specialized training.
  2. Must hold the current rank of Sergeant
  3. Must not have been convicted of any felony for a criminal offense that precludes authority to possess a firearm; must not be currently under indictment for any criminal offense; must never have been convicted of any crime of domestic violence that precludes authority to possess a firearm; and must not otherwise be prohibited by any existing state or federal statute from possessing firearms or ammunition.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate effective physical strength, stamina, agility, and balance to employ physical control techniques to restrain and detain uncooperative and resistant subjects and defend self and others from physical assaults.
  5. Must be able to perform the physically demanding responsibilities of the position, including but not limited to:  regularly standing, walking, or climbing several flights of stairs; sitting at an observation post, occasionally required to run, climb, crouch, or crawl; ability to frequently lift 25 to 50 lbs. with occasional lifting of 100 lbs. or more; exposure to weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, or acts of violence and other confrontational situations; the ability to carry firearms and other law enforcement equipment, which could be retained on the officer's duty belt.
  6. The demonstrated ability to maintain composure and perform reliably under pressure, to understand and carry out complex oral and written instruction, and demonstrate effective oral/written communication skills.
  7. Demonstrate good judgment, interpersonal, and customer service skills, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  8. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to provide direction and feedback to staff.
  9. Must be willing to use force, up to and including deadly force, as appropriate.
  10. The is a 24/7 operation and all Federal Reserve Law enforcement Officers must be able to work on any shift, and work overtime as needed.
